Vision introduces adaptive faceplate to enhance business accessibility

Vision Triangles

Vision is proud to announce the launch of a new DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant option for AV faceplates, designed to help businesses improve accessibility in compliance with UK disability regulations. The new adaptive faceplate option ensures that AV installations are inclusive and accessible to all users, including those with visual impairments.

The Disability Discrimination Act, replaced by the Equalities Act in 2010, mandates various accessibility features such as ramp access to buildings and specific requirements for handrails. Notably for AV installers, the act specifies that AV faceplates must be in contrasting colours to be easily locatable by individuals with impaired eyesight.

Stuart Lockhart, Managing Director of Vision, explains: "While most customers prefer the standard white Techconnect, we occasionally receive requests for DDA-compliant faceplates. To meet these needs without increasing the cost of our standard product, we are introducing a solution that quickly makes any Techconnect surround compliant."

Vision will stock high-quality, laser-cut vinyl stickers that can be easily ordered and applied to existing faceplates, ensuring they meet the necessary compliance standards. The stock will be available starting early August, with the part number TC3 SURR2G_DDA.

In addition to the adaptive faceplate, Vision announced significant updates to its popular modular faceplate packages in May. Over the next six months, Vision will phase out its VGA cables, with current packages available until the end of the year. Starting in the summer, Vision will begin shipping new packages that feature a simplified configuration: each package will include only an HDMI and USB-B module, with the option to add additional modules as needed.

Furthermore, the new packages will now include necessary cables directly in the box. Along with the long HDMI and USB cables for signal transmission from the faceplate to the display, the new packs will also feature an HDMI input patch cable. These updated packages will be available in 3, 5, and 10-meter lengths.
